A nursery school in cooperation with agricultural health insurance uses recycled cotton

"Agricultural health cooperation nursery school" that adopted recycled cotton

Hoshiyama Ehon no Mori Nursery School, Shiwa District, Iwate Prefecture

Hoshiyama Ehon no Mori Nursery School is located in a very natural environment surrounded by rice fields and fields. This nursery school, which was opened by renovating the former Hoshiyama Elementary School, has a unique concept of "agricultural-health cooperation" that connects agriculture and childcare , and places importance on children developing rich sensibilities and creativity while interacting with nature. It provides childcare that supports children's "ability to develop on their own," which is the complete opposite of childcare that moves children as a group.

I'm looking for a 100% cotton nap blanket.

Initially, in line with the concept of the nursery school, The client wanted a nap blanket made from the most natural and gentle material for children, so we were asked to make a 100% cotton nap blanket.

Seeing how enthusiastic they asked questions about materials and specifications in order to create the perfect nap blanket, we wanted to not just provide them with the product they wanted, but also suggest the best option that suited the nursery's philosophy, so we offered them the option of recycled cotton in addition to a 100% cotton blanket.

What is recycled cotton?

We separate the high-quality reusable cotton from futons that are no longer needed at home or in facilities, and restore them to a quality that is almost like new. Newly milled cotton. By reusing the cotton from bedding, we offer a sustainable choice that is kind to the earth without consuming new resources.

Points of agreement with Hoshiyama Ehon no Mori Nursery School

Based on the unique concept of "agricultural-insurance collaboration," Hoshiyama Ehon no Mori Nursery School places great importance on helping children develop rich sensibilities and creativity through contact with nature.

I felt that this philosophy was not simply an educational policy, but was rooted in a deep desire to see the growth and future of each and every child.

After receiving this request, we had many conversations and he gradually gained a deeper understanding of the benefits of recycled cotton. We were particularly impressed with his attitude of valuing environmental considerations and sustainability.
The process of sharing those thoughts and working together to give shape to the project was extremely fulfilling and extremely rewarding.

The delivery

The journey was about 220km (about 4 hours) from Nemuriya, so we delivered the goods directly without asking a delivery company.

As soon as we arrived, many children volunteered to carry the nap mats from the cars, which enabled us to deliver them with less than half the effort we had expected.
(Because it is a brand new, soft nap blanket, it ends up looking like this in the picture 😅)

It was a very valuable experience to be able to watch the children playing energetically and talk with the nursery school staff about not only the products but also a variety of other things.

Here are the specifications we delivered this time.

  • Size: Futon mattress (70cm x 140cm) / Comforter (85cm x 140cm)
  • Filling: Recycled cotton
  • Cotton quantity: Futon mattress (1500g) / Comforter (950g)
  • Number of items delivered: Futon mattresses (70 pieces) and comforters (70 pieces)

My thoughts afterwards

One of our staff members commented that "the recycled cotton futon is very comfortable to use, and even children can easily handle it."
I was also very happy to hear that choosing a cotton futon was the right decision.

We received an additional order at a later date and decided to visit again.
By chance, a sweet potato digging event was being held that day, so we were able to participate for a little while together with the energetic children.

Thank you to everyone at Hoshiyama Picture Book Forest Nursery School for this wonderful opportunity.
