Re-stuffing one set of comforter and sheet into two futons
2025, Tokyo, Mr. Y [Order via LINE]
Delivery example #020
Hello, I'm Kanauchi, a staff member at Sleep Shop.
This time, we will introduce an example of how one single-sized comforter and sheet set was re-stuffed into two single-sized quilts .
Why did Mr. Y have his futon replaced with a duvet?
This is something you may experience in the future. I hope you will find it useful when the time comes.

Regarding the cotton futon we received
Condition of the quilt
The comforter we received this time was a single size.
It was a comforter with a very unique pattern featuring blue and light blue squares.
Many of the cotton futons we take in have traditional floral designs, so I thought a pattern like this one was very unusual.
When we cut the fabric open to check the filling, the surface was filled with small balls of cotton that seemed to fall off in pieces.
Since it was a duvet, the cotton contained a lot of synthetic fibers.
Just because there are lumps doesn't mean that it can't be re-woven, and it is cotton that can be re-woven.

Condition of the mattress
The futon we received was a single size.
The fabric has the same design as the comforter, so it appears that they were purchased as a comforter and sheet set.
When I checked the cotton, I couldn't find any lumps like those found in a duvet.
The cotton quality is slightly different from that of the comforter, and I feel that it contains a higher proportion of cotton. The exact proportion is unknown, but a mattress that prioritizes comfort is likely made using cotton with a higher proportion of cotton.
The cotton was in good condition and could be easily re-stitched.

Reworking to suit your current lifestyle
Why did Mr. Y decide to have the futon re-stitched into two futons, rather than having the futon re-stitched into the same futon and sheet set?
This is because nowadays we basically use mattresses and almost never use futons.
And because Mr. Y's family normally uses cotton duvets.
The lifestyle of Japanese people has changed with the times. Mattresses and woolen futons are now commonly used, and the number of people who regularly use cotton futons is decreasing year by year. Rather than disposing of futons that you no longer use or making new futons that you will never use, I think it is a very good choice to re-stuff them into something that you need in your life .
What is the finished product?
About the finish
One set of comforter and sheet was re-stuffed into two single-size comforters.
In fact, these duvets are made with slightly different weights.
The red duvet is of normal weight, while the blue duvet is a little heavier .
It's hard to tell from the outside, but that's how it is made.
The reason is that we made it to the weight that Y's husband preferred. He said he preferred a slightly heavier comforter, so we fulfilled his request.
For specific weight information, please see " Recasting contents and fees " below.

summary
This time, we introduced a delivery example where one set of comforter and sheet was re-stuffed into two comforters.
If there are any readers of this blog who are thinking about upgrading from their cotton futon to a new mattress, I highly recommend having it re-stuffed.
One particularly recommended item is Nemuriya's original bed pad , which is placed on top of the mattress.
It not only protects the mattress, but if it is made from uneven cotton fabric, it is soft to the touch and has excellent breathability, helping to promote a more comfortable sleep.
Also, even if you find that the mattress you just bought is too hard, a cotton bed pad is soft and thick enough to solve the problem.
