2024 Mr. E, Yamagata Prefecture [Order at store]
Delivery example #014

Hello everyone, this is Kanauchi Kaito from Sleep Shop. This time, I will show you a case where we re-stuffed two sets of single-size cotton futon covers and mattresses (total of four pieces). The main features of this case are that the futon cover and mattress were re-stuffed separately and the additional cotton was added to the mattress.
I will introduce the details so please read to the end.

Regarding the cotton futon we received

Condition of the mattress

The futon we received this time was a single size.

The filling of the red mattress pad was mostly pure cotton, but also contained some synthetic fibers. It seemed to have lost moisture and become dry. The filling also seemed to have moved around, causing the mattress to lose its shape.

The pink futon was a semi-double size futon. The filling of this futon had a slightly higher proportion of synthetic fibers than the red futon.

Both cottons were in good condition and could easily be re-stuffed.

Condition of the quilt

Both comforters were single size.
The fabric was yellowed and torn in places, making it uncomfortable to wear.

The filling was mostly synthetic fibers. As it was a comforter, it seemed to be made with a filling that was light and voluminous. There was very little dirt or impurities, so it was cotton that could easily be refilled.

Features of this remake

The mattress and comforter are re-stuffed separately.

This time, we re-stuffed the mattress and comforter separately because the ratio of filling material used in each is different.

The mattress has a high percentage of cotton and is highly breathable and absorbent. On the other hand, the comforter has a high percentage of synthetic fiber and is light and voluminous. In order to make the most of each characteristic, we re-stuffed them separately.

No extra padding on the mattress

When re-weaving, the amount of cotton is generally reduced slightly. For example, if the amount of cotton before re-weaving is 10, it will usually be 9 or 8 after re-weaving. Therefore, cotton is usually added to make up for the loss.

In this case, we re-stuffed one single futon and one semi-double futon, and the finished product was two single futons. Therefore, we decided that the required amount would be met without adding extra cotton to make up for the loss, so we did not add any extra cotton.

What is the finished product?

About the finish

Both the mattress and the comforter have been re-stuffed and transformed into comfortable cotton comforters.
Re-casting not only improves the appearance, but also restores functional aspects such as heat retention.

The fabric for both the comforter and mattress is the same "Awaume pattern," and the set comes in one red and one blue.

summary

This time, the order was for a set of comforter and mattress to be re-stuffed.
In this case, as mentioned above, we re-stuffed the mattress and comforter separately, taking advantage of the characteristics of each. Re-stuffing them together would be easier to manage and more efficient, but it is an important step that affects the comfort of the bed. Through this case, I learned that there are other ways of doing things. And I was reminded that being able to respond flexibly and adapt to situations like this is one of Sleep Home's strengths.

I hope this information will be helpful to anyone who is considering re-stuffing both the comforter and the sheet of their cotton futon.
