Delivery example #015

Hello everyone, this is Kanauchi Kaito from Sleep Shop. This time, I will show you a case where we changed a single-sized comforter to a single-sized bed pad. Our shop also handles changing to a different cotton product.

I will introduce the details so please read to the end.

Regarding the cotton futon we received

Condition of the quilt

The quilts we received were two semi-double size quilts. The filling was mostly synthetic fiber, but there was also a good amount of cotton.

The size was approximately 140 cm wide and 180 cm long, which was slightly smaller than today's standard semi-double sized cotton futon.

From comforters to bed pads

There are some points you need to be careful of when re-stuffing a duvet into a bed pad.
One thing to pay particular attention to is the percentage of synthetic fibers contained in the padding.

Cotton comforters often contain a lot of synthetic fibers because they are lightweight and voluminous. However, if such filling is reused in a bed pad, the resulting bed pad will have low breathability and moisture absorption, making it uncomfortable to use.

Fortunately, the comforter in question was filled with a lot of pure cotton, so it was in a condition that allowed us to re-stuff it and reuse it as the filling for the bed pad without any problems and still be able to use it comfortably.

The pros and cons of Sleep Shop's original bed pad

Nemuriya's original bed pads not only protect your mattress from sweat and dirt and keep it clean, but they are also thick and highly cushioned, so those who are concerned about the hardness of their mattress can expect them to improve their sleeping comfort.
Of course, since it is a cotton futon, it has excellent moisture absorption and breathability, which is another benefit as it creates a comfortable sleeping environment.

The downside is that it requires regular maintenance, such as hanging it outside to let the moisture and water it has absorbed escape. If you don't let the moisture escape regularly, the cotton will become very heavy.

To restore the unique fluffiness of cotton batting and keep it clean and comfortable for as long as possible, be sure to perform regular maintenance.

With a new mattress

This customer also ordered a re-fill at the same time as ordering a bed mattress. If you are having a hard time finding a mattress that suits you, it might be a good idea to consider combining it with a cotton bed pad rather than just looking at the mattress alone.

Usage and Fabric

The fabric of the bed pad we made had a white lining. Since it is a white fabric, I'm sure you are worried about sweat stains and dirt after repeated use.
But there is no need to worry.
The bed pad is placed on top of the mattress and then covered with a fitted sheet, so there is no direct skin contact. The fitted sheet can be washed regularly to keep the surface clean.

Of course, we can also make it with fabrics other than white lining. We recommend "uneven cotton fabric." You can enjoy the unique texture and suppleness of uneven cotton. We have a wide selection of unique patterns and plain, colorful fabrics, so you can enjoy the look as well.

If you make your bed with uneven cotton fabric, we recommend placing a bed pad on top of the mattress cover to take advantage of the unique feel of uneven cotton fabric.

What is the finished product?

About the finish

The comforter has been reborn as a bed pad. The mattress size you ordered was 97cm wide x 195cm long, so we made it to fit that size. The filling came out just as expected, with no problems.
