2 single-sized blankets made from leftover cotton
2025 Mr. A, Miyagi Prefecture [Order by email]
Delivery example #016
Hello, I'm Kanauchi, a staff member at Sleep Shop.
This time, we will introduce a delivery example where a customer who previously ordered a wedding futon re-stuffed made a light blanket using leftover cotton.
Depending on the content of the re-weaving, there may be leftover cotton. We hope that this delivery example will be helpful as a way to make effective use of the cotton without wasting it.
Please be sure to watch until the end.

About leftover cotton
If the futon we receive contains more cotton than expected, or if we have to re-stuff it into a product with less cotton , there may be leftover cotton.
We offer the following three options for leftover cotton:
- Free pick-up
- Return it as it is
- Create additional products
Recently, more and more people are making additional products with the leftover cotton, thinking, "I might as well use it." Recommended items to make are "bed pads," "quilts," and "cushions," which can be made with a relatively small amount of cotton.
Regarding the last retake
The process of making a blanket from leftover cotton
Mr. A's initial order was for us to re-stuff his wedding futon (one comforter and one mattress) into a bed pad and a light blanket made of uneven cotton fabric.
→【Delivery Case Blog】Turning wedding futons into everyday items
As mentioned in the delivery example blog, after completing the bed pad and the blanket, about 4 kg of cotton was left over. When we told Mr. A that we had 4 kg left over, he replied that he would like to try out the blanket first, and if it was comfortable and easy to use, he would like to make more for his family. He has never used a cotton blanket before, so he is still undecided about whether to make more for his family. Also, this was his first time using uneven cotton fabric, so he wanted to try it out for himself.

About a month after delivery, we received a happy message from the customer saying that they had enjoyed using the product and would like to make some more.
Finished product and finish
The finished product is two light blankets, both made from uneven cotton fabric with a square pattern.
The fabric on the back is a plain color that matches the color of each square, making for a stylish, unified duvet cover.

summary
One set of wedding futon covers and sheets that we no longer had the opportunity to use but couldn't bring ourselves to throw away were eventually transformed into one bed pad and three light blankets.
A wedding futon is a futon filled with memories given to you by a loved one, and it is not something you can easily throw away.
However, I'm sure many of you are thinking, somewhere in your heart, "Maybe I should throw it away..." or "I wish I could do something about it..."
Nowadays, the lifestyle of Japanese people has changed, and the opportunities to use cotton futons are gradually decreasing. However, by having it re-stuffed, instead of throwing it away, it is possible to "remake it into an item that fits into today's daily life."
Why not have your precious futon re-stuffed by Nemuriya and transform it into something that suits your modern lifestyle?
