Why are there four types of padding?
Before introducing each type of filling, let us explain why Sleep Shop stocks four different types of filling.
For some reason...
This is because we want to provide a nap bedding that is perfect for each child.
Each child has their own characteristics, such as "sweating easily," "being large," "having allergies," or "not liking dust."
At Sleep Shop, we want to provide nap blankets that allow as many children as possible to sleep comfortably, so we allow you to choose the filling that suits each individual.
Of course, having a wide variety of products has the disadvantage of increasing the time and cost required to manufacture and manage the cotton. However, we are able to respond flexibly in this way because we want each child to have a nap bedding that suits them, and because we want to realize the wishes of parents who want to provide a comfortable nap environment.
Sleep Shop's strength is that it can handle things that large retail stores can't easily handle.
So what are the characteristics of each type of padding, and what type of children are they recommended for? We would like to introduce them one by one.
Our most popular item: 100% cotton
First, let's start with 100% cotton.

Characteristics of 100% cotton
As the name suggests, 100% cotton is filled with 100% natural cotton. Cotton is highly absorbent and dissipative, so it absorbs and dissipates your child's sweat every day. Therefore, it is comfortable to use with less strain on the body.
Made with Indian cotton
We use Indian cotton. Indian cotton is characterized by its thick, short, and stiff fibers. This cotton is a perfect match for futons, providing firm support for your child's body.
Disadvantages of 100% cotton
- Because it is made from 100% natural materials, the cotton tends to get crushed and wear out more easily than other types of filling.
[Countermeasures]
・Make it the extra-large type. (This is an option.)
For those who want to know more about the increased volume type → Reasons why we recommend the increased volume type
Recommended for:
-We want your child to sleep comfortably using 100% natural materials.
・I've looked at all four types of padding, but I'm still not sure which one to choose.
Increased durability! Blended cotton
Next, we will introduce you to "blend cotton."
Characteristics of blended cotton
Blended cotton is a filling that combines two types of materials: cotton and polyester.
As mentioned above, 100% cotton has the disadvantage that it is more easily crushed and worn out than other types of filling. Therefore, we have improved durability by mixing it with polyester. Blended cotton is a filling that emphasizes the balance between comfort and durability.
Cotton to polyester ratio
The blend is 70% cotton and 30% polyester filling.
Too much polyester makes the mattress uncomfortable to sleep on, and too little makes it less durable. We experimented with various ratios of blended cotton and found that the most balanced ratio was 7:3.
Disadvantages of blended cotton
・Although more than half of the filling is made from natural materials, it also contains synthetic fibers, so it is slightly less comfortable and pleasant to sleep on than a nap blanket made from 100% natural materials.
Recommended for:
・I want a nap blanket that provides firmer support. (If you plan to use the blended cotton blanket for more than three years, we recommend the extra-large type.)
Anti-mite cotton
Next, we will introduce the third product, anti-mite treated cotton.

Characteristics of anti-mite cotton
Anti-mite cotton is a blend of polyester and cotton that has been treated with anti-mite, antibacterial and deodorizing properties. It can be used safely by children who have allergies to mites or who dislike dust.
Disadvantages of anti-mite treated cotton
More than half of anti-mite cotton is made of synthetic polyester. Its moisture absorption is not as good as other cottons. Although it is made of about 30% cotton to improve comfort, it may feel uncomfortable to sleep on during times when you tend to sweat a lot.
Recommended for:
・I have dust mite allergies. ・I don't like dust. ・I have other allergies.

Environmentally friendly cotton Recycled cotton
Finally, we will introduce recycled cotton.

Characteristics of recycled cotton
Recycled cotton is a sustainable filling material that is made by selecting only the highest quality cotton from the cotton that is no longer needed in the region and regenerating it to a level that is almost like new. The material is cotton futons that are no longer needed by corporations such as local inns and individual customers. This filling material is recommended for those who want to choose environmentally friendly products. It may also be an opportunity to think about sustainable choices.
Refurbished to like-new condition
Is it okay to use cotton that someone else has used before?
Some of you may have questions like that.
But don't worry.
As mentioned above, we select only high-quality cotton and apply various regeneration processes to it. The most typical process is "high temperature treatment."
Drying at high temperatures of over 100℃ kills microorganisms such as bacteria and mold. It also removes odors, restoring the item to the same quality as new.
Another key point is that high-temperature drying removes excess moisture, resulting in a fluffy, soft texture.
Recommended for:
・I want to choose environmentally friendly products. ・I want to keep the price as low as possible.
